Same Editions, Different Definitions

Softshare Delta

As with previous versions of Softshare Delta, Delta 5.0 will have a standard edition and an enterprise edition. However, the additional support for database, XML, and text document formats that traditionally set Delta Enterprise apart from Delta Standard is no longer the differentiating factor between the two editions.

Softshare Delta 5.0 Standard

In Delta 5.0, the standard edition received a significant boost in capabilities, supporting all five data formats. In essence, the 5.0 version of Delta Standard has the same capabilities that the 4.1 version of Delta Enterprise does, and takes advantage of all the general 5.0 enhancements mentioned previously.

Softshare Delta 5.0 Enterprise

To keep its edge over the standard edition, Delta 5.0 Enterprise boasts a brand new Delta component called Solution Manager. As an integrated component of Delta 5.0 Enterprise, Solution Manager manages translation maps and all associated resources for easy deployment and version tracking across multiple servers, multiple developers, and multiple projects. In addition, Delta 5.0 Enterprise incorporates the XML security functionality that used to be part of the add-on Web Services Toolkit.

New! Softshare Delta Studio and Engine

Both editions of Delta 5.0 (standard and enterprise) will be sold as two components: Delta Studio and Delta Engine. Delta Studio is the design component of Delta 5.0. It’s from this interface that you’ll develop, test, and manage your data translation maps. Delta Engine, on the other hand, is required to execute the maps in a production environment. As such, Delta Engine will typically be installed on the server, whereas Delta Studio resides on a developer’s workstation. No more map development on the server! Upon upgrade to 5.0, Delta users will receive one Delta Studio and one Delta Engine license.

Softshare ECS

As with previous versions of Softshare ECS, ECS 6.0 will have a lite, standard, and enterprise edition. All three editions will benefit greatly from the new 6.0 enhancements and features; however, the general feature set of each edition has changed slightly.

Softshare ECS 6.0 Lite

In the 6.0 version, ECS Lite is limited to 10 trading partners. In addition, the SMTP server has been removed. If these new limitations affect your operations, Softshare is offering six-month incentive pricing to upgrade from ECS Lite to ECS Standard.

Softshare ECS 6.0 Standard

ECS 6.0 Standard no longer carries the RosettaNet HTTP extensions. If this affects your operations, Softshare is offering six-month incentive pricing to upgrade from ECS Standard to ECS Enterprise.

Softshare ECS 6.0 Enterprise

ECS 6.0 Enterprise includes scale-out processing and integrated failover technology, both of which are new 6.0 capabilities. But like the other two editions, the enterprise edition also has some new limitations in place. It no longer installs with a POP3 and FTP server, which means that mailbox services have been removed. Note: Microsoft Message Queuing (i.e. the MSMQ input and output channels) has been removed from all ECS editions.
