In the December 2006 issue of Softshare Times, we announced that Softshare was officially discontinuing new sales of the Softshare Vista Application Integration Component (AIC), an integration bridge between Vista and the popular QuickBooks accounting application. At that time, we also announced that for those clients currently using the AIC, Softshare would continue to develop new AIC forms by request for at least one more year (i.e. through December 2007).
One more year has turned into two more years, but an official AIC discontinuation date has been set. As of December 2008, Softshare will no longer develop new AIC forms. We will, however, continue to support existing solutions. While Softshare will support an existing AIC solution indefinitely, we cannot guarantee AIC support for future versions of QuickBooks.
AIC compatibility with QuickBooks has been frozen at the 2007 version of QuickBooks. Depending on their architecture, new versions of QuickBooks may or may not work with the AIC and, for this reason, we recommend that anyone currently using the AIC remain on QuickBooks 2007, or an earlier release, for as long as possible.
If this decision impacts you in any way, don’t hesitate to contact your Softshare sales representative. We will be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have.
